Educated in the United Kingdom, Spain and the US, she completed her bachelors in business and languages at Leeds Metropolitan University. She then completed a masters in hospitality at Les Roches and then at the University of Maryland where she undertook a Masters degree in social work. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish and has lived and worked in Europe and the United States.
